IAM Primary Schools get dressed up and have fun!

Our teachers and pupils share a passion for reading, and this year, we made World Book Day extra special by having different activities throughout the week across our Inspire Academy Movement schools.

Seal CoE Primary School kicked off the week with an exciting Character Parade on Monday, hosted by our good friend Ant Payne (AKA Silly Billy). The fun continued with engaging poetry workshops, a book treasure hunt, a poetry slam, sharing favourite stories, and drinking hot chocolate in our pyjamas!

Even our Seal Community School Farm animals got in on the action! With so many nursery rhyme books featuring sheep, pigs, goats, and chickens, we could hear many younger pupils singing to the animals during their breaks!

Maypole Primary also had a fantastic week in Dartford. Each year group enjoyed different events, starting with our very own SuperVirdi, the spellcaster of reading, who read a frog story to Year 2 children in the newly pruned forest area.   We were delighted to welcome Dr Michelle Gibbs to the school, who read from her book and chatted about how her children inspired her to become an author.

Four Elms Primary near Edenbridge began the week with a visit from poet Adam Kammerling, who inspired the Class 2, 3 and 4 pupils with his poetic skills.  Next, Class 1 participated in a "Make it Groovy" workshop, where children shared and swopped stories with their peers.  The much-anticipated Character Parade hosted by Silly Billy was a huge success, and we are still talking about the Poetry Slam, where the children showcased their hard work in presenting and performing poems.

Our final Trust school, Rusthall St Paul's Primary in Tunbridge Wells, also had a blast with a week of fun events and lots of reading with a clear focus on the importance of Reading Your Way, which encourages everyone to let go of reading pressures and expectations and let children find fun in reading.

Thank you to our parents, staff and, of course, our fantastic children for making World Book Day so fantastic!
